Impulse response is excellent, faithfully reproducing the spatial quality of the original sound while the highly synchronous transient response allows the most subtle instrumental tonal nuances to come through without false colorations. Both Nile models, V and X are housed in cabinets that seem extremely compact for the level of sound reproduction achieved.
Nile components are handmade by Danish old-world craftsmen from the most advanced, high technology materials available. Every woofer and tweeter are hand selected and matched to one another for the most true-to life, balanced sound imaginable. Of-course, such attention to detail takes time. And, as a result, Nile monitors are produced in limited quantities for only the most discerning audio professionals.
Theoretically, the perfect speaker system is a one-component system requiring no crossover. High, mid and low frequencies would emanate from a single driver offering excellent phase, impulse response, time alignment and transient response. The realities of today's technology, however, make such a one component system atleast a generation away. Commercially popular 3 and 4 component systems, with their necessarily complex crossover networks and inherent distortion, are even further afield from the ideal sound system. Thus, for reference-quality sound, we are left with the two-way system.
