SonicStudio DSD.1

Sonic Studio has released three new products as part of their DSD/SACD production environment. These products were specified to give maximum flexibiltity whether adding DSD/SACD capabilities to a single mastering suite or a large multi-station workgroup. With Sonic Studio, you have the freedom to precisely tailor your entire production system to your particular workflow requirements providing optimum return on investment.

Sonic Studio DSD.1 - 8 Channel Assembly System

The DSD.1 multichannel recording and editing system offers DSD assembly entirely within the friendly and familiar Sonic Studio HD environment.

Operating on the Apple Macintosh computer platform, the DSD.1's all new processing hardware records and plays 8 channels of Direct Stream Digital™ audio with crossfades via SDIF-3 on BNC connectors. The single full length PCI card may be operated on it's own as a stand-alone DSD assembly system or may coexist with a Sonic Studio HD system to form a combination DSD / PCM environment on a single computer.

The Sonic Studio DSD.1 software environment includes all of the editing features and functionality that made Sonic Studio the industry leader for CD production, including multi-EDL projects, four point source/destination editing and the powerful Edit Fade Mode. Sonic Studio DSD.1 is a truly native DSD system; all tracks remain entirely in the DSD domain from record through editing and mixing to final output.

In addition, DSD.1 includes the ability to convert DSD format projects to PCM at user specified resolution. These projects may then be opened in Sonic Studio HD for further processing, mastering and red-book authoring.

SonicStudio DSD.X

The DSD.X is an additional PCI processor board which provides both additional track capacity and new DSP processing to the DSD.1 assembly system. Included are 8 additonal channels of DSD record and playback with crossfades allowing 16 channel record/playback. DSD.X also features DMAP native multichannel DSD EQ and the SuperMAC bidirectional multichannel DSD interface which carries 24 simultaneous channels of DSD on a standard CAT-5 network cable.

Sonic Studio SACD.1

Also, from Sonic Studio is SACD.1, the Scarlet book SACD authoring system. This software only system accepts any DSD-IFF compatible files (even those from other manufacturer's DSD workstations) and creates SACD image files on Sony AIT format tape, both Sony and Philips compatible. The SACD.1 may be run integral with Sonic Studio DSD or separately on another Macintosh, allowing maximum workflow flexibility. As a software only product, no additional processing hardware is necessary.
